In ordinary films, things are seen so much from the outside, so theatrically, but without the presence you have in a theatre: the presence of flesh and bone. That is what makes theatre: presence. Without presence, it isn’t theatre. What is photography? A reproduction. What is reproduction worth? Nothing.
